Women Cell
Objectives:
- To Sensitise all the employees and students of the institute about the issues of sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
- To admit complaints from employees and students on sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
- To follow relevant Acts, Rules, Office Memorandum of Government of India and Court Orders etc. as applicable from time to time.
- To Make recommendations to the Director on the actions to be taken on specific complaints.
Sexual Harassment Definition :
According to Supreme Court Judgment on Sexual Harassment, on the case of Vishakha vs. the State of Rajasthan (August 1977), the behavior that can be considered as sexual harassment has been explicitly, legally defined as following- Sexual Harassment includes:
- Physical contact and advances.
- Demand or request for sexual favors.
- Sexually coloured remarks.
- Display of pornography.
- Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or nonverbal conduct of a sexual nature.
