The Government of India has appointed the 1st day of July 2024 as the date on which the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (45 of 2023), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 (46 of 2023), and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023 (47 of 2023) shall come into force. These three new criminal laws will replace the British era colonial laws, namely, the Indian Panel Code, 1860, the Code of Criminal Procedures, 1973 and the Indian Evidence Act, 1872, respectively. The new criminal laws Gazette Notifications are given hereunder for further references to the citizens.
